A life account of Paniamma from Trivandrum

Paniyamma is a deserted young woman from Trivandrum, with her four children. She appeared as a mentally challenged person with disorder. She together with the twin children were staying in her brother’s house who was a drunkard and used to beat her and compelled her to leave from that house.

When this family was selected in the family development program, the Save A family Plan field staffs gave special attention to her. They visited her house constantly and gave emotional support to empower her.

She attended several trainings on different topics such as Self-confidence, Personality Development, Psychotherapy, Women Empowerment, Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP), Government Schemes etc. After lots of intervention by our program staff, she was motivated to join for tailoring course and she completed this training successfully. This was the turning point in her life.

With the money from the program, she purchased a tailoring machine and started stitching. She took a house for lease and shifted her tailoring unit into that house with the income from tailoring. This gave her a sustainable income and self-confidence.

The training in Psychotherapy and Personality Development transformed her into a normal prudent woman. The trainings and awareness classes made her a responsible mother. She proved herself she is capable. This enabled her to be elected as a Leader in the Basic Christian Community unit.

She continued her efforts and started fish business. She collected fish from whole sale market and sold in the local market and thereby she gained an additional income. Further she expanded her fish business to dry fish in the wholesale market.

She is grateful to Save A Family Plan for making her life happy, to think differently and led her journey towards meaningful and success.
