Sheeja Shibu from Palakkad, came from traditional poor family who had to sustain from 0.05 acre of land. Her husband suddenly committed suicide and she was left with a daughter and a son. Both the children were small when she lost her husband. After seeing the suicide of her husband, she became so depressed that she was not able to do even the regular works. After came to know about this family’s condition, Save A Family Plan selected the family for Family Development Program.
When she connected with Family Development Program, she could get full moral support and encouragement from our staff. She got a job as a support worker in one of the religious sister’s houses nearby. After seeing other members of partner families, she too underwent skill training and was taking regular funds using them for the purchase of cow and goat. Now she is started earning some regular additional income too. With the support of Save A Family Plan and other local people she constructed a liveable house with all basic facilities.
Now she is taking good care of her children and leading happy life. The social support she is getting in the village is also good. Thus she could gain self confidence and courage from the stage of depression. She has achieved economic stability and security and is happy.
